Travel accessories for my trip to Montreal in Winter


Decision and the travel to Montreal happened over two days, getting hold of the tickets and hotel reservation few hours before the flight. There wasn't much time for thoughts on selecting the airline nor for planning travel accessories.Apparently, I was headed for lot of surprises especially when travelling in the month of December.

With just two days in hand, my last minute shopping were for:

1. Shoes
2. Jacket
3. Sweater
4. Thermal inners
5. Gloves


Finding Snow Contact shoes in Pune suburbs was challenging. The salesman at one of the shops mentioned that I would need gum boots and suggested I check out Woodlands. Thus purchased a high heal leather shoe and a Jacket from Woodlands outlet in Aundh.

                


But later realised that both the Shoe and Jacket (in-fact was a hoodie) were biker's gears,  and also was told that leather hardens when in contact with snow and the rubber soles don't work. Fortunately they had an exchange policy. Looking up for a snow contact shoe took me to Decathlon at Wagholi.



 .                            

Got an all weather hiking shoe and a pair of Skiing gloves. The Shoe has water proof membrane and since it was meant to work in any weather conditions, this was my choice.



The other items on my reference list of things to carry included:

  1. Sim pin 
  2. Medicines
  3. Shaving toiletries 
  4. Gift
  5. Mug
  6. Lip balm
  7. Medicines /Antibiotics 
  8. Sprain reliever 
  9. Snacks (Soup bowls)
  10. and of course Passport & ticket.

Why is the net meter export readings less than the inverter energy generation?

  Readings taken between Nov 20th and Dec 1st = 11 days Solar readings as on Dec 1st: EP - 84 kwh T1 - 83 kwh IP - 109 kwh T1 - 19 kwh T2 - 44 kwh T3 - 42 kwh Net - 24 units Inverter Energy reading - 108 kWh Net Meter export reading - 84 kWh Where did the remaining 24 units go? A Net Meter is a bi-directional energy meter that records both Import from the Grid and Export of Energy to the Grid. The inverter energy meter records the energy generated by the Solar Power Plant. A solar power plants generates energy during the day. It follows that any export of energy to the grid can happen only during the day. Consumption during the day is also therefore met partially or totally by the generation. Export during the day = Generation - consumption during the day From the above equation it is clear that Export will always be less than or equal to generation.   Beacon Solar offgrid Inverter showing Overload after Thunder / Lightning We had encountered a lightning surge (on 8th April 2022, Malayalam calendar Meenam massam) that defunct four of our ceiling fans and the Solar Hybrid inverter that was recently installed. Beacon inverter was throwing Overload error inspite of not being connected to output load.  I had raised this issue the next day to our Solar installer (Mr. Benny /Pravasi Est),  and subsequently he logged a service ticket with Beacon Service Center. As per his guidance , also tried resetting the inverter by removing the DC and AC wires from connecting terminals and waited for 10 mins without any luck. Beacon Service Tech (Mr. Sharath) came over late in the evening and replaced IC LM324N. This restored the inverter.  I was told that the unit is under 2yrs of warranty.
